Around 1900 many small buggy companies experimented with horseless
carriages or "auto-buggies". One such company was the Richland
Buggy Company located in Mansfield. This firm later became the
Richland Vehicle Company, which produced the National.
The only known surviving National is now on display in the carriage
house at Oak Hill Cottage.
