Rose Knox: Author Appearance by Rachel Greenfield

Event: Oak Hill Cottage, October 29, 7pm. 310 Springmill St.

Rachel Greenfield, long time New York business executive in the publishing field, is coming to Mansfield to talk about her biography of a native daughter we didn’t even remember we had.

The 7pm event will be a conversation in the Oak Hill Cottage parlor about the celebrated businesswoman Rose Knox.  Rose Markward grew up in Mansfield in a wealthy family that fell victim to the Panic of 1873. Fleeing creditors in 1877, the family landed in the Mohawk Valley town of Gloversville in upstate New York, an experience that shaped her later life when she became the widow of Charles Knox and the celebrated CEO of Knox Gelatine, the company he had founded. It’s the story of “How One Woman Mixed Kitchen and Boardroom to Remold an American Business”.

The book intersperses biography with recipes from the Knox Gelatine cookbooks. Learn how to make “Mansfield Pudding”!

Oak Hill will celebrate the America 250 October food theme following the talk, with Knox Gelatine Halloween themed refreshments! October 29th at 7pm. Registration is required for this free event. Call 419-524-1765 or admin@oakhillcottage.org
